A sculptural necklace in one continuous form, 21 × 18 cm and 45 grams assembled. A continuous herringbone arc opens across the collarbone, in metallic Acqua, on a petrol-blue waxed cotton cord.
A 21 × 18 cm piece in silver would weigh over 300 g. It wouldn’t be expensive — it would be invisible: it would stay in the drawer after the first night out. The Bones only exists at this scale because it isn’t metal, and that is why it actually leaves the house.
You can close it yourself. The clasp is magnetic: bring the two ends together and it closes. No mirror, no fumbling behind your neck, no asking for help. For anyone with any stiffness in their fingers, that is the difference between wearing it and leaving it in the box — and it’s the reason so many beautiful necklaces never get worn.
The form. The bones are all the same element, repeated and rotated along the axis, printed as a single piece with no joints. That repetition creates the curve that follows the collarbone. There is no centrepiece: the design lives in the rhythm, in the interval between one bone and the next. The shadow that falls between them is part of the composition.
For those who want a single piece. The Bones fills the neckline and makes any other accessory unnecessary. It works over a turtleneck, over a white T-shirt, over anything plain — it belongs to someone who dresses in neutrals and wears one strong piece instead of several quiet ones.
Acqua changes with the light. It is a cool metallic, between blue and green, that leans greenish in daylight and darkens at night. It isn’t the colour of any familiar metal, which is exactly why nobody can tell what the piece is made of before asking.
The cord is part of the piece. Petrol-blue waxed cotton, chosen to disappear against clothing and leave the bones floating over the collarbone. If you’d like a different length, talk to us before placing your order — assembly is done here in the studio.
It’s PLA, a polymer made from a renewable plant source — it doesn’t come from petroleum. That is what allows a piece at this scale to exist: the same form in silver would weigh over 300 g and be impossible to wear.
No. PLA only breaks down in industrial composting, under controlled heat and humidity. In a drawer and in everyday wear, it is stable for years.
Yes. The clasp is magnetic — bring the two ends together and it closes. No mirror, no fumbling behind your neck, no asking for help.
The piece contains a magnet. Anyone with a pacemaker or defibrillator should consult their doctor first.
No. Take it off to shower and swim, and keep it away from pools and the sea. The cord is waxed cotton and shouldn’t be soaked.
The photos show the piece being worn, which is the best reference for where it sits on the body. If you have any doubts before buying, talk to us.
If it’s in stock, it ships the same day. Made to order, it’s ready in 1 to 3 business days.
No. The colour is in the material itself — it isn’t paint or plating, so there is no top layer that could peel or wear off.
45 grams assembled. It’s a piece with volume, so you feel you’re wearing it, but it’s about a seventh of what the same form would weigh in silver.
A magnetic clasp, printed here in the studio. The cord is waxed cotton.
The clasp is magnetic. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted device, talk to your doctor first.
Ready-to-ship pieces leave as soon as payment is confirmed. Made-to-order pieces take one to three business days.
It doesn't come from petroleum. The piece is printed in PLA, a plant-based polymer — the same material across all of the studio's production.
Best not. Take the piece off to wash your hands, shower or swim, and leave it out of the pool and the beach. Store it dry, away from sunlight.
Up to 50 °C. Above that, PLA softens — the dashboard of a closed car in the sun goes over 60 °C, so don't leave the piece there.
For now, the website only ships to addresses in Brazil. For an order from abroad, write to studio@kubolab.com.br or message us on WhatsApp: we arrange shipping and payment case by case.
