Under 2 grams per earring, 2.5 cm across. The Metaball looks heavy — it’s a full, rounded volume with apparent mass — and it isn’t. That contradiction between what the eye sees and what the ear feels is what makes people laugh when they try it on.
For those who want volume without weight. It’s the piece for anyone who loves a full, round earring but gave up on them because the metal version stretches the piercing. The Metaball takes up the same visual space and doesn’t pull. It goes with hair worn up, a turtleneck and any plain clothing, where the volume has room to show.
The formal principle. Metaball is a term from digital modelling: volumes that, as they approach each other, merge into one continuous body instead of staying separate. The piece is literally that — spheres that grew too close to stay individual, with the mark of the fusion still visible on the surface. It’s a form that only exists because it was calculated; no hand would produce it this way.

FAQ
Is it plastic?
It’s PLA, a polymer made from a renewable plant source — it doesn’t come from petroleum. And it is precisely because it isn’t metal that a piece this size weighs so little.
If it’s biodegradable, will it fall apart over time?
No. PLA only breaks down in industrial composting, under controlled heat and humidity. In a drawer and in everyday wear, it is stable for years.
Will it hurt my ear? Can it cause an allergy?
The post is stainless steel, specified as anti-allergy. Weight is the other half of the answer: an earring this size in metal easily goes over 20 g each, which pulls on the piercing all day.
Can it get wet?
Better not. Take it off to shower and swim, and keep it away from pools and the sea.
How long until it arrives?

Is it heavy on the ear?
The weight in the specifications above is always per earring — it's what each ear carries. The pieces are hollow, which keeps them light even at larger scales.
How long until it leaves the studio?
Ready-to-ship pieces leave as soon as payment is confirmed. Made-to-order pieces take one to three business days.
Is this plastic?
It doesn't come from petroleum. The piece is printed in PLA, a plant-based polymer — the same material across all of the studio's production.
Can it get wet?
Best not. Take the piece off to wash your hands, shower or swim, and leave it out of the pool and the beach. Store it dry, away from sunlight.
Can it take heat?
Up to 50 °C. Above that, PLA softens — the dashboard of a closed car in the sun goes over 60 °C, so don't leave the piece there.
