16 grams across 7 centimetres of organic volume, held by a magnet — no pin through anything.
The Nodo is built on a simple biological principle: what happens when several volumes grow too close together to stay apart. Rounded nodules press against one another until they form a single body, with the marks of that fusion still visible on the surface.
For those who love organic forms. It’s the most tactile brooch in the collection — people ask to touch it. It works well on plain fabric, where the relief has contrast, and it’s a piece that starts conversations.
The formal principle. Colonies of forms with pentagonal repetition, cells that divide and push against each other: nature is full of structures that grow by accumulation and mutual pressure, not by central design. The Nodo starts from that logic — there is no main nodule organising the others.
Is it plastic?
It’s PLA, a polymer made from a renewable plant source — it doesn’t come from petroleum. That is what lets a 7-centimetre brooch weigh 15 grams.
Will it make holes in my clothes?
No. The clasp is magnetic: one magnet sits inside the piece and another behind the fabric. You can wear it on silk, fine jersey and knitwear without leaving a mark.
Does it hold well?
Yes, on fabrics of normal weight. On very thick fabric — a heavy wool coat, leather — the distance between the magnets increases and the hold weakens.
I have a pacemaker. Can I wear it?
The piece contains a magnet. Anyone with a pacemaker or defibrillator should consult their doctor first.
If it’s biodegradable, will it fall apart over time?
No. PLA only breaks down in industrial composting, under controlled heat and humidity. In a drawer and in everyday wear, it is stable for years.
How long until it arrives?
If it’s in stock, it ships the same day. Made to order, it’s ready in 1 to 3 business days.
No. The brooch closes with magnets: one part sits on top of the fabric and the other underneath.
The clasp is magnetic. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted device, talk to your doctor first.
Ready-to-ship pieces leave as soon as payment is confirmed. Made-to-order pieces take one to three business days.
It doesn't come from petroleum. The piece is printed in PLA, a plant-based polymer — the same material across all of the studio's production.
Best not. Take the piece off to wash your hands, shower or swim, and leave it out of the pool and the beach. Store it dry, away from sunlight.
Up to 50 °C. Above that, PLA softens — the dashboard of a closed car in the sun goes over 60 °C, so don't leave the piece there.
For now, the website only ships to addresses in Brazil. For an order from abroad, write to studio@kubolab.com.br or message us on WhatsApp: we arrange shipping and payment case by case.
