22.48 grams — the most substantial of the brooches, and still a fraction of what the same piece would weigh in metal, where 7 centimetres of volume would be over 80 g and simply wouldn’t stay upright on a blouse.

The Floe works with irregular plates that fit together and overlap, like a surface that broke apart and settled again. The edges aren’t clean: this is fragmentation, not cutting.

For those who want a winter piece. It’s the most visually dense brooch in the collection. With a magnetic clasp.

The formal principle. A floe is a sheet of ice that breaks away and floats. The piece translates the moment a continuous surface ruptures: the fragments still hold the memory of how they once fitted, but they never return to it.

FAQ

Is it plastic?
It’s PLA, a polymer made from a renewable plant source — it doesn’t come from petroleum. That is what lets a 7-centimetre brooch weigh 15 grams.

Will it make holes in my clothes?
No. The clasp is magnetic: one magnet sits inside the piece and another behind the fabric. You can wear it on silk, fine jersey and knitwear without leaving a mark.

Does it hold well?
Yes, on fabrics of normal weight. On very thick fabric — a heavy wool coat, leather — the distance between the magnets increases and the hold weakens.

I have a pacemaker. Can I wear it?
The piece contains a magnet. Anyone with a pacemaker or defibrillator should consult their doctor first.

If it’s biodegradable, will it fall apart over time?
No. PLA only breaks down in industrial composting, under controlled heat and humidity. In a drawer and in everyday wear, it is stable for years.

How long until it arrives?
If it’s in stock, it ships the same day. Made to order, it’s ready in 1 to 3 business days.

Does it work on light fabric?
It does, but at 22.48 g it’s the heaviest piece in the line. On very fluid silk it may slightly mark the drape. For light fabric, the Radia at 13.15 g is the safer choice.

Details

Will it make holes in my clothes?

No. The brooch closes with magnets: one part sits on top of the fabric and the other underneath.

I have a pacemaker. Can I wear it?

The clasp is magnetic. If you have a pacemaker or another implanted device, talk to your doctor first.

How long until it leaves the studio?

Ready-to-ship pieces leave as soon as payment is confirmed. Made-to-order pieces take one to three business days.

Is this plastic?

It doesn't come from petroleum. The piece is printed in PLA, a plant-based polymer — the same material across all of the studio's production.

Can it get wet?

Best not. Take the piece off to wash your hands, shower or swim, and leave it out of the pool and the beach. Store it dry, away from sunlight.

Can it take heat?

Up to 50 °C. Above that, PLA softens — the dashboard of a closed car in the sun goes over 60 °C, so don't leave the piece there.
