A 2.5 cm earring that weighs 1.5 grams. That’s less than a sheet of paper, and it’s the first thing people say when they pick up the MeFuzz: how can it be so light.
The answer is in the structure. Dozens of fine threads grow in a spiral from a common centre, and there is more air between them than material. The piece has the visual presence of a big earring and the mass of almost nothing — you wear it all night and forget you have it on.
For those who love texture. The MeFuzz doesn’t shine or reflect: it absorbs light like fabric. Up close it looks like fur, felt, something textile. It’s the earring for someone who dresses in layers, loves surface and prefers to be noticed by choice, not by sparkle. It works at the office and at night, because the volume is contained — 2.5 cm is presence, not spectacle.
The formal principle. Most 3D-printed pieces show the surface typical of the process: visible layers, a continuous finish. The MeFuzz reverses that expectation. Each thread is printed as an independent filament, thin enough to behave like a textile fibre — the result denies the immediate reading of a printed object and proposes something else, closer to the organic.
Is it plastic?
It’s PLA, a polymer made from a renewable plant source — it doesn’t come from petroleum. And it is precisely because it isn’t metal that a piece this size weighs so little.
If it’s biodegradable, will it fall apart over time?
No. PLA only breaks down in industrial composting, under controlled heat and humidity. In a drawer and in everyday wear, it is stable for years.
Will it hurt my ear? Can it cause an allergy?
The post is stainless steel, specified as anti-allergy. Weight is the other half of the answer: an earring this size in metal easily goes over 20 g each, which pulls on the piercing all day.
Can it get wet?
Better not. Take it off to shower and swim, and keep it away from pools and the sea.
How long until it arrives?
If it’s in stock, it ships the same day. Made to order, it’s ready in 1 to 3 business days.
How many pieces come in the box?
The pair.
Do the threads come loose or fray?
No. Every thread is part of a single piece, printed as one block — it isn’t assembled, and there is no glue or join. Just avoid forcing or bending it.
Stainless steel, specified to our supplier as anti-allergy.
The weight in the specifications above is always per earring — it's what each ear carries. The pieces are hollow, which keeps them light even at larger scales.
Ready-to-ship pieces leave as soon as payment is confirmed. Made-to-order pieces take one to three business days.
It doesn't come from petroleum. The piece is printed in PLA, a plant-based polymer — the same material across all of the studio's production.
Best not. Take the piece off to wash your hands, shower or swim, and leave it out of the pool and the beach. Store it dry, away from sunlight.
Up to 50 °C. Above that, PLA softens — the dashboard of a closed car in the sun goes over 60 °C, so don't leave the piece there.
